Ugandan striker Muhammad Shaban has agreed to sign for Ethiopian side Coffee FC after quietly leaving Gor Mahia following the collapse of his Ksh4 million move.

Ugandan striker Muhammad Shaban has joined Ethiopian club Coffee FC after leaving Gor Mahia in unclear circumstances.

Shaban had been tracked by Gor Mahia since March this year as the club was preparing to shake up its attack and even reached an agreement with the record Kenyan champions.

He would sign for Gor Mahia in August but left a few days later over reasons yet to be known although his representatives have claimed K’Ogalo did not honour a contractual agreement.

“Shaban was reportedly promised USD 30,000 (approximately Ksh4 million) when he signed his contract,” Ugandan outlet Kawowo Sports reports.

“However, he only received USD 10,000 (about Ksh1.3 million) with the assurance that more would follow. The player was deeply disappointed, describing the situation as a great lie.”

The outlet reports that the forward opted to return home after the failed deal and sought to join his ex-club KCCA but an agreement could not be reached, leaving him searching for a new home.

He has now landed a one-year contract with Coffee FC although the financial details of the deal have not been revealed yet.

Gor Mahia have, however, dismissed the player’s version, insisting he introduced fresh demands when he arrived in Kenya and both parties agreed to sever ties.

The 27-year-old is an experienced striker who has played for Onduparaka, KCCA and Vipers in Uganda as well as Moroccan giants Raja Casablanca, Al Hilal Benghazi as well as Al-Anwar SC both in Libya.
