Ulinzi Stars head coach Dunstan Nyaudo insists his side remains a force to reckon with this season despite being held to a goalless draw by defending champions Kenya Police FC at the Police Sacco Stadium on Wednesday.

The highly anticipated League clash marked Policeโ€™s first domestic game of the season after their CAF Champions League commitments.

ย For Ulinzi, it was their third outing, having already secured four points from a win over Murangโ€™a SEAL and a draw against Kariobangi Sharks.

The stalemate extended their unbeaten start, and Nyaudo believes the Soldiers are shaping up well.

โ€œI think from last year, I was very clear in my vision. I was trying to build a young team,โ€ said the tactician. โ€œFrom where I sit, Ulinzi is going to fare very well in the first leg before we lose some players who are set to join the military fully.โ€

Nyaudo, who has overseen a gradual transition within the squad, praised his new additions as crucial in giving the team balance and competitiveness. Among the standout signings are Leonlevitt Otieno and Paul Odhiambo, both of whom he described as important in his project.

โ€œWithout a doubt, I think we are prepared for the league this time around because we made a few signings which were actually very important to us,โ€ he said.

Despite the absence of goals, the Soldiers showed defensive resilience and composure against the reigning champions, who struggled to break them down. Police, led by head coach Etienne Ndayiragije, were hoping to kick off their title defense on a high note but were instead frustrated by Ulinziโ€™s tactical discipline.

The result leaves Ulinzi Stars unbeaten in their opening three games and building early momentum that could prove vital in their quest for a strong campaign.

ย Nyaudo, however, remains realistic about the challenges ahead, particularly the expected departure of several squad members to full military duties.

Ulinzi next faces Mara Sugar at the Ulinzi Sports Complex on Monday, October 6.
