Julius Migos Ogamba is the Cabinet Secretary for Education following his appointment by President William Ruto in August 2024.

Ogamba, a lawyer by profession, boasts of nearly 30 years of legal practice experience. He has held various roles, including as a Commissioner for Oaths and Notary Public.

Throughout his legal career, Ogamba has built a reputation for providing legal advice to a diverse portfolio of clientele across various industries.

He holds a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from the University of Nairobi and a Master of Laws (LLM) from the University of Dundee in Scotland, where he specialized in Petroleum Taxation and Finance.

Ogamba also holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law and a Diploma in Law from the Institute of Advanced Legal Studies at the University of London.

Prior to his appointment as the Education CS, Ogamba served as the chairman of the Kenya Electricity Generating Company PLC (KenGen) Board, a position that was taken over by the former Sabatia Constituency Member of Parliament Alfred Agoi Masadia.

He has also made notable contributions to the banking, finance, manufacturing, oil, gas, natural energy, and real estate sectors.

He describes himself as a passionate, visionary and accomplished legal professional with experience in counselling clients, performing legal research, preparing legal documents and representing clients in criminal and civil court proceedings.

The CS is also a senior partner at Migos Ogamba & Waudo Advocates and a Commissioner for Oaths and Notary Public, as well as a member of the Kenya Law Society.

Political career

Ogamba made his political debut in 2017, vying for the Kitutu Chache Parliamentary seat.

In the 2022 general elections, he was picked by the former Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu as his running mate in the Kisii gubernatorial race.

Machogu and Ogamba vied on a UDA party ticket but lost to the current Governor Simba Arati.
