Kenyan socialite and entrepreneur Vera Sidika has addressed rumours about her latest cosmetic surgery, clarifying that the procedure was carried out in the United States — not in Kenya or South Africa, as some had speculated.

The speculation began after fans noticed her sudden transformation, prompting assumptions that she had chosen local or regional clinics. Taking to Instagram Stories, Sidika dismissed the chatter:

“No disrespect, but why would I even do it in Kenya when I have a five-year U.S. visa and there are surgeons in the U.S. who’ve done over 15,000 boob surgeries with more than 20 years’ experience? Show me one surgeon in Africa with that portfolio,” she wrote.

The mother of two revealed that she intentionally kept the procedure private for over two months, explaining that she would never announce such details in real time. She cited concerns about privacy and superstition, suggesting that some might even wish for complications during her surgery.

“If I did it in Kenya, I think they would have leaked it before I healed. Even hospital security alone would send tea to blogs,” she added.

Sidika stressed that her choice was guided by professional expertise. She explained that the American specialists she consulted offered reassurance through decades of practice and thousands of successful operations. Her comments — particularly the comparison to African surgeons — quickly sparked debate online.

Supporters applauded her for being candid and for prioritising safety. Critics, however, accused her of dismissing African medical professionals, pointing out that the continent has capable surgeons even if they lack the same international exposure.

Sidika is no stranger to public conversations about cosmetic surgery. In 2022, she disclosed that she had reversed an earlier enhancement due to health concerns, a revelation that ignited widespread discussion at the time.
