Victor Haland won the boys aged 6 years and under during the US Kids Junior Golf Championship held at Sigona Golf Club.
Haland posted +5, while Aryan Patel emerged victorious in the Boys 7 category, also carding +5. Surya Bongu displayed great consistency to claim the Boys 8 category on +2, before Hakeem Mutungi thrilled the crowd in the Boys 9 category with asensational 1-under-par finish, one of the standout scores of the day.
In the older boys’ age groups, Paren Reel topped the Boys 10 category with +4, while Ishaan Patel fought hard to secure victory in the Boys 11 category with +8. The Boys 12 group saw Xia Yu rise to the challenge, finishing on +10.
The highly competitive Boys 13-14 category was edged by Savir Shah, who carded +1, while in the Boys 15-18 category, Shashwat Harish showed great composure to clinch victory with a score of +2.
The Girls’ categories were equally impressive, with Njeri Nganga winning the Girls 8 & Under category at +6, while Irene Asiyo led the Girls 9-10 group with +5. Ashley Gachora thrilled the galleries with a near-par round of +1 to take the Girls 11-12 category. In the Girls 13-14 category, Chloe Chiuri put in a strong performance with +2, while Esther Paul fought bravely to claim the Girls 15-18 category at +28.
Speaking after the event, Tournament Director and JGF Vice President James Ondigo praised the depth of talent on display:
“The performances we’ve seen today are a clear sign that junior golf in Kenya is growing stronger with each event. From under-par rounds to the determination shown across all categories, these young golfers are a true inspiration. With the support of clubs, parents, and our partners, we are confident that this generation will carry Kenyan golf to new heights,” he said.
The event once again reaffirmed the mission of the Junior Golf Foundation and its partners to nurture talent, instill sportsmanship, and grow the game among juniors.
The fifth leg of the NCBA US Kids golf tourney will be held Sunday, 5th October 2025.
