‎Former Central Police Station OCS Samson Talaam and five co-accused will remain in custody until key civilians and police witnesses testify in the murder case of teacher Albert Ojwang’. ‎ ‎The officers, alongside civilians John Ginge Gitau, Gin Ammitou Abwao, and Brian Mwaniki Njue are accused of jointly killing Albert Ojwang on the night of June 7th and 8th, 2025, at Central Police Station in Nairobi. ‎ ‎The court found that there were real fears of interference with crucial witnesses, particularly those serving within the police force. ‎ ‎In her ruling, Justice Diana Khavedza Mochache notedthat the case, which triggered nationwide protests, is highly sensitive. She stated that releasing Talaam and his co-accused at this stage would undermine public confidence in the justice system.

‎ ‎While acknowledging that the law allows accused persons to be granted a bond on reasonable terms, the judge emphasized that in this instance, public interest outweighs the individual rights of the accused. ‎ ‎The bail application was therefore dismissed, with the court directing that the accused remain

‎ ‎”The application of bail is declined at this stage until the witnesses at the central police station have testified in custody until witnesses based at the Nairobi Central Police Station testify,” court ruled.

In the same court ‎drama unfolded after a human rights activist Mulinge Muteti for the second time disrupted proceedings by shouting during a session before Justice Diana Kavedza. ‎ ‎His outburst momentarily paused the proceedings, prompting court orderlies to move in and attempt to restrain him as he stood with his hands raised before he was swiftly whisked by the police.

‎Tje judge has ordered he be arrested and detained at Kibera police station pledge to be the complainant in the case.
