The campaign for the various positions in the forthcoming elections of Kenya Union of Post Primary Teachers(KUPPET) in various counties is going on as every aspirant is crisscrossing schools using all ways to sell their manifestos to teachers for them to be elected.

In West Pokot County Mathew Merimuk an aspirant for the position of West Pokot KUPPET County  Executive Secretary position, has hit the road running with the hope of clinching the seat and change the welfare of teachers within the region.

Speaking to Education News, Merimuk said he is before the West Pokot Teachers to be elected as County Executive Secretary with promise to serve all teachers within county fairly so that they can enjoy the fruits of being union members.

If elected, Merimuk promised to strengthen teachers trust in KUPPET by constructing a permanent KUPPET office in West Pokot County which he said is missing.

He added that he will also ensure teachers appoint KUPPET Representative in every Secondary School and Junior Secondary School in West Pokot County to improve communication and welfare to all teachers.

“I am committed to ensure my leadership as a new KUPPET Executive Secretary in West Pokot County next year.  I will ensure the union purchase a land we construct a permanent office to strengthen the muscles of the union in our County, we will also ensure every school has KUPPET Representative to ensure better service deliver to all our esteem teachers wherever they are”, said Merimuk.

Merimuk added that he will ensure under his watch the teachers will receive Fast and Fairly Burial Benovelent Fund(BBF) in West Pokot County with timely disbursement of BBF Fund to all teachers in all Sub Counties of Qwest Pokot.

“BBF is a critical services to our teachers in West Pokot who sometimes pass through a lot of challenges, I will priotise timely disbursement of BBF Fund to all our members to ensure our teachers burry their loved ones in respect”, said Merimuk.

He added that as KUPPET Executive Secretary he will acquire a West Pokot County KUPPET Branch Van which will ensure it serves all members in all sub counties of West Pokot County.

“Our KUPPET Branch Van will be available to all our members and it will smoothened service delivery to all teachers in West Pokot,” said Merimuk.

Merimuk further highlighted that he will ensure that all teachers of West Pokot have an Annual Teachers’ Fun & Sports Day which main purpose is to foster unity, health and bonding among teachers.

“Through my leadership as KUPPET Executive Secretary in West Pokot we will ensure Annual Teachers Fun and Sports Day, KUPPET organise Sports, team games and entertainment which winners will awarded and every teachers will be motivated in the event”, highlight Merimuk.

The Unionist also reveal that his office of the County Executive Secretary in West Pokot County will ensure it organises a Mental Wellness and Motivational Day which sessions will handle and address stress management and financial literacy among teachers.

The Unionist also highlight that when he will took office, he will ensure there is fair representation across all Sub Counties by nominating KUPPET Representative in each Sub County in West Pokot County thus enhance regional equity in decision making and service delivery among all teachers.

The aspirant also said that he will champion for Junior Secondary School autonomy by engaging KUPPET national officials to negotiate with Ministry of Education.
