Kalonzo Musyoka-led Wiper Democratic Movement has reacted to reports that Kitui West MP Francis Nyenze endorsed the re-election of President Uhuru Kenyatta, warning him of dire consequences.

The MP is said to have issued statements suggesting that he was behind President Uhuru Kenyatta’s candidature in the August polls, contrary to his partyโ€™s stand.

In a statement, the party warned the MP of ‘consequences’ if he failed to give a satisfactory explanation of his statement.

“Hon Nyenze, the Wiper candidate for Kitui West, is quite aware of the consequences of campaigning for a rival party. WDM-K will no doubt be seeking a clarification from the MP as to whether he has, since his nomination as Kitui West parliamentary candidate on WDM-K ticket, shifted his allegiance from our party to a Jubilee candidate, after which we will chart the way forward,” the party said in a statement signed by its Executive Director Jared Siso.

Nyenze, who is also the National Assembly minority leader, was last week captured pouring praises on President Uhuru Kenyatta’s achievement at an Ukambani function that was presided over by Youth and Gender Cabinet Secretary Sicily Kariuki.

“If somebody does well to you, you can’t forget. Can you forget those who have done well like Uhuru Kenyatta…The truth is, Uhuru has done a lot and we’ll elect those whose work can be seen,” Nyenze said.
